Hello! My name is Colleen Winters! I am proud to be a part of this amazing team of educators here at LS-H. This is my sixth year at Park and third year in second grade. I am also a graduate of LS-H! I live in Jordan with my 4 children-Mikaela, 17, Meaghan, 15, Micah, 11 and Cullen, 9 and our 5 year old chocolate lab named Willow. When we are not at sporting events or other activities, we enjoy spending as much time together as a family as we can! We love just hanging out together at home watching a movie or playing a game.
As a teacher, I believe in fostering a love of learning through hands-on, high interest activities designed to pique student curiosity and set them on the path to becoming lifelong learners. I want my students to be creative, compassionate, and curious thinkers and know that everything is possible when they work hard and believe they can accomplish their goals. However, I also believe that it is equally, if not more, important to develop a sense of community and build trusting relationships within the classroom, both between teacher and student and students and each other. Students thrive in a space where they have a sense of belonging. When they walk into my classroom, it is my goal that they feel connected each and every day. Each "lightbulb moment" and friendship created makes me grateful I followed MY passion to become a teacher!
