After picking a favorite animal, they looked up photos of their animal. They had to pick 3 different points of view (top, side, front, back) to include in their drawings. Today in art, students in grades K thru 5 started an all school relief sculpture. Studying will work cooperatively - each person creating a piece that will go together to make the whole relief sculpture. Each student selected a monochromatic color scheme, then picked the forms they would use. By the end of Thursday we will have 370 pieces to assemble into a large sculpture. Collaboration and cooperative work are important as children learn how to work with others...an important life skill for the adult workforce. It also helps students learn from one another, to be creative as ideas from one person influence another, and to create a larger work of art by working together.
