In art, students in grades K-2 worked with guest artist, Michelle Kaisersatt, of St Peter. Michelle is a fiber, ceramic, and jewelry artist. She is working with students this week to create fabric pieces with pattern, shading, and texture to represent water, leaves, and sun rays. Michelle will then sew the pieces into a radial design blanket that will be displayed in the library media center. This experience is funded by H.A.V.E. This organization brings so many incredible opportunities to our students.

2nd graders are learning about art and science in art! We learned about constellations and the Northern lights; talked about sunsets, sunrises and the night sky; listen to the story Forever Sky by Ojibwe author, Thomas Peacock; and talked about the art of Annette Lee, Dakota illustrator and astronomer. Next the students created their own Sky paintings and will collage in an invented/imaginary constellation of their own.
