Students in grades K-2 will be going to Stages Theater to see the play Giraffes Can't Dance.
In art we listened to the book, talked about how our bodies bend when we do our favorite dance move, then created collages of giraffes doing that move. Students will also be reading the book in their classrooms and doing academic activities that connect.
This field trip is funded by a grant from the MN State Arts Board made possible by the citizens of Minnesota through appropriations from the MN State Legislature.

🎤✨ Slam Poetry Night Is Almost Here! ✨🎤 Our 4th and 5th graders have been diving deep into rhythm, voice, and storytelling — and now they’re getting ready to share their original slam poems with our community.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, students have spent the past few weeks learning and creating with spoken-word artist Frank Sentwali. Every student had the chance to perform their poem in class, and their courage and creativity have been incredible to witness.

📅 Slam Poetry Night 🕒 Thursday, February 12 5:00 PM 📍 LSHE Cafeteria

Participation in the evening event is optional, but all students have already brought their voices to life during our in-class performances. We can’t wait to cheer on those who choose to take the stage and share their work with families and friends.

🌟 Come celebrate the power of student voice — you’ll be amazed by what they have to say. 🌟

Shout out to LSHE 4th graders
So proud of our 4th graders! In art, they looked at works of art, discussed ideas backed by facts, and shared thoughts on how traditional art can influence contemporary art. Incredibly thoughtful insights!

This week in library media, students K-3 are reading “Ursula Upside Down” by Corey R Tabor as part of the Star of the North Picture Book Award competition. After reading, we learned about upside-down catfish and then enjoyed some upside down reading!
Thanks to H.A.V.E. for purchasing these books for us this year!
